RAFB Dorms Campus Upgrade

The 78th Civil Engineering Group at Robins Air Force Base launched a $2.7 Million landscaping project called, UHHZ 090055 – Dorms Campus Infrastructure and Landscaping Upgrade in the 25 acre airman dormitory area.  Ocmulgee provided a 25 acre topographic survey, civil engineering consulting and design services for this project.

The entire site was re-graded and the parking lot in the middle of the 9 dorm complex was turned into a “park like” plaza with a large central pavilion and a water fountain.  Ocmulgee designed the campus upgrades to include sidewalks, bike trails, bike storage areas, plazas, and pavilions.  Ocmulgee provided a recreational amenities plan consisting of a sand volleyball court, 2 outdoor basketball courts, and a general purpose playfield.  Ocmulgee worked closely with the project manager, contractor, and architect on all phases of design and construction.

The Preserve at Live Oak

The Preserve at Live Oak is a 125-lot subdivision located on a 100-acre site in the city of Warner Robins, Georgia, which posed many development constraints and issues. The site is overwhelmed with wetlands, streams, and flood plain that make up almost half of the property. To most developers and designers, this situation can be seen as burdensome and costly to the overall success of the project.

Ocmulgee, Inc. specializes in these type developments, converting burdens to assets. The site was designed with the natural topography in mind. With our expertise and experience, we reduced infrastructure and overall cost. The wetland areas were placed in natural conservation and used for water quality credits. Furthermore, Ocmulgee, Inc. was able to show the Local Issuing Authority that detention and water quality requirements were met without the use of onsite detention ponds. This overall concept greatly reduces grading, the amount and size of storm water infrastructure, and depth of sewer. The lots were laid out around the conservation space providing a unique experience for all.

Freedom Field Stadium

Freedom Field Football Stadium is located in Houston County, and was constructed for veterans and Houston County High School. Ocmulgee, Inc. master planned the facility and provided general civil services including grading, erosion control, storm, and hydrologic studies. Ocmulgee, Inc. pulled ideas from sports complexes previously designed to create one of the premier high school football stadiums around.

One of the major design considerations was the desire to provide a “bowl” effect with the field level below grade. This provided some difficulties since the stadium was to be constructed on an old farm site that was relatively flat. Ocmulgee, Inc. was able to deliver the appearance of a recessed field by elevating the site substantially around the field. Fill material was generated onsite and the product was delivered as desired and on budget.
